New Year, 2026
Another year, 2026.
We had an exciting 2025, with lots of interesting work on complicated projects. Our focus remains the same as ever, helping clients with high performance, reliable, server systems on Windows and Linux. This year we will begin our 30th year of software development consultancy and, it seems that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
The highlight of the year was probably Phase 2 of our server development for our large, American postal company. The work went very smoothly, and we added TLS security to their system of 300 servers that manage various physical mail processing machines and which are processing over 554 million pieces of “snail mail” a day. We hope to work with them again in the future, but each phase is well managed and distinct and so the in-house team will likely take the new system forward and into production without needing our input. This was a large, fixed-price, development with quite a lot of risk, but it went smoothly and everyone was happy at the end.
Another successful fixed-price development was completed for a new client, Rail Logic, who needed an application server shell that they could move their business logic into and so increase the performance and reliability of their train-control system. This project was broken into several phases so that we could help to control the unknowns and minimise the risk for us and the cost for the client. All went well and the client’s development team are now integrating and extending the system.
We continued to support Eonic Gaming with their servers for the Turf Battles Triumphus 3D MMORPG but their developers have taken over much of the work, and so we just step in, every so often, to help with the really gnarly issues.
We also continued to work with the secretive Online Gaming Company, now into our 17th year with them. They focus most of their development team on the managed business logic and client code that makes up their system and leave us to develop and maintain the core C++ code that supports the server on Windows and Linux. Over 500 companies use their game server to run games and industrial control simulations and over 1 million game studios and developers develop for the platform.
As always, we’d like to wish our clients a Happy new year and good fortune in 2026!
