2025

Welcome to 2025.

2024 was a good year for us, we continued to work with the secretive Online Gaming Company adding to and improving the cloud gaming server that we wrote for them. It’s quite nice to have a client that uses our server code to support over 1.4 billion monthly players and to continue to extend and improve the code that we’ve now been a part of for over 16 years. Hardware and Operating System evolution means that we still get to find ways to improve performance and make things better. We’ve recently been testing an AFD-based datagram back-end for them and this works well and delivers performance improvements over our traditional IOCP design. Next up will be a RIO-based datagram back-end which may, or may not, be even better. All of these changes filter through to The Server Framework eventually and the speed at which various features make it into a full release tends to be driven by client demand; so if you’re interested, get in touch.

We also continue to support Eonic Gaming with their servers for the Turf Battles Triumphus 3D MMORPG and they are now looking to add Linux support to their server infrastructure which means that we get to move their server from the Windows version of The Server Framework to the Linux version. Each time we do this we improve and streamline the process a little more and we try and build more examples that build and run on both platforms with no change.

This year has started well for us with a new client who wants a fixed price development of a server system to manage their remote devices. This is standard fare for us, we’ve done variations on this kind of server so many times over the years, but each time we approach it with fresh eyes and try and improve designs and filter changes back into the framework.

We’d like to wish our clients a Happy new year and good fortune in 2025!
